Petit site comique et sympa sur la scène, amusez-vous à trouver lequel vous pourriez être dans une autre vie ou même dans celle-ci. Le tout est bien présenté et montre une vraie connaissance du paysage.

Et puis c'est vrai quoi, Our Scene Sucks. Entre les dépressifs et les tough guys qui ne savent pas jouer autre chose que du Terror ou Madball-like. Sans parler de ses chieurs de Straight Edge a toujours montré du doigt ou de ses anticonformistes à la con qui font tout pour qu'on ne se ressemble pas tous ou pour pas qu'on ait tous l'air d'écouter des American Nightmare ou MLIW wannabe. Non franchement la scène Punk, "c'est de la merde".

Mais j'aime la merde, alors....

ANOTHER BREATH 2003-2011

C’est hier que la nouvelle est tombée, Another Breath met un terme à sa courte mais excitante carrière. Le groupe aura en 8 ans produit 3 albums Not Now, Not Ever ; Mill City et leur petit dernier God Complex, produisant un Hardcore bien Rock avec parfois des tons bluesy, porté par un jeu de guitare efficace et reconnaissable à la première écoute et par une voix à la limite des possibilités du chanteur toujours très éloquente et touchante.

Si leur premier album pose les pierres à l’édifice de ce que sera Another Breath avec déjà les premiers cris contre notre société et notre système hérité de leurs amis de Verse. C’est avec Mill City que le groupe prend enfin son envol et s’impose comme un concurrent très sérieux dans la scène du Hardcore actuelle. Punk à souhait dans l’attitude et dans les textes avec un son très Modern Hardcore. L’album voit quelques unes de plus belles compositions du groupe comme « Jailbreak », « Orange », « I’m Pro-You-Shutting-The-Fuck-Up », « Anchors » ou encore « Marla ». Another Breath s’imposait alors dans une scène Straight Edge où les problèmes lié à cette philosophie passaient avant la rage du Punk originelle. Avec Verse puis Another Breath et finalement The Effort ceci est chose du passé.

Puis God Complex sortit en 2009, la transformation de l’essai. Le son se pose le tout semble moins furieux d’abord mais cache une haine et une passion folle, à la fois pour l’homme et pour celui qu’on appelle Dieu. La voix se fait centrale et atteint de nouveau sommet, on est transporté puis détruit dans son sillage. Le concept et les textes de l’album s’apparentent à un pamphlet brulant contre la religion, les hommes et Dieu mais cache une force autobiographique forte avec des paroles fortes et efficace comme le début de « God Complex » ou alors celui de « Eleventh Hour », autre référence à Sin City grande influence du groupe dans sa vision du monde autant que dans le graphisme des couvertures.

Au final Another Breath rejoint The Ghost Of A Thousand qui a annoncé son split plus tôt cette semaine dans la liste de ces grand groupes de la scène qui nous manqueront. Heureusement les fans du style d’AB pourront toujours se reporter sur The Effort mais il leur faudra attendre quelques années avant de voir la réunion des Natifs de Fulton, New York.

Post Script

We plan to host a weekend of final shows in the upstate NY area August 26th - August 28th. We intend to do a show at in our hometown of Fulton, NY (30 min north of Syracuse) on 8/26 and play mostly older songs since this is where the band got its start many years ago. On 8/27 we will host a show at The Lost Horizon in Syracuse, NY, this will be our last show. Then, on 8/28 we want to set up a show at an art space/collective in Syracuse called Badlands where AB member’s side project bands will perform. At the moment our last West Coast show is scheduled for May 27th at the Panic Records Showcase, the first day of Rain Fest in Seattle. Sorry for the late notice on this, we are hoping to play some after party shows as well but nothing has been confirmed yet.

We are very thankful for the experiences we’ve shared and all the great friends we’ve made along the way. We share a deep respect for the all people who have helped us out. We have been very fortunate and will carry the memories with us for years to come.

As of right now we have no future plans to play shows or write songs in the form of Another Breath so we are calling it a day. Perhaps this is just a hiatus for an undetermined amount of time, perhaps this will be our final show ever, time and inspiration will tell. Some of us have been friends for over 15 years, much of those years were of the highest quality; as kids at recess and riding the bus to school, as adolescents causing trouble in the small town where grew up, and as young adults traveling around causing trouble in other small towns. We are now all in different places physically and mentally and the time has come to move on in our respective directions. We are all still friends so it’s conceivable that we will play together someday, but for now we have decided to lay the band to rest. As you may have noticed we used to play shows and tour all the time but over the past few years everything has just slowed down and now has come to a grinding halt. Thanks again to everyone who has helped us out, showed us a good time and listened to our songs, it has meant the world to us. We are very grateful to have had the opportunities that have been afforded to us.
